Summer Starts Here

Message from your local branch president:

Welcome to days of enjoyable walking, gardening, and finally setting aside our winter tires.

As I dig in the dirt and plant my garden and flowers, I revel in the scent of freshly cut grass, the lilacs, and the blooming fruit trees. And, how about these long evenings of daylight!

During the last week of May, I attended a convention in Singapore and, despite the wilting heat and humidity, was able to visit the Gardens by the Bay and the Botanic Gardens which both featured magnificent flowers and exquisite foliage. It truly is a beautiful country. As a note to travellers planning trips through several time zones, check out a helper called Jet Lag at the health food store. It was recommend to me by a world traveller and I found it really does eliminate jet lag.

The May luncheon included our AGM and the new executive will remain the same as this year. However, we would welcome anyone who might like come aboard as a member at large. You may contact any of the executive members.

Don’t forget the fun evening of Court Whist on June 19 at the Masonic Hall, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Come and enjoy refreshments and fellowship with friends and former colleagues. There is no cost.

We will begin our new year on September 4, 9:00 a.m., with The Hell With The Bell Breakfast. Watch for details.

STS AGM in Saskatoon, May 7-9

The Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan had their Annual General Meeting May 7 - 9 in Saskatoon. Three interesting items were,

1. Congratulations to Sunil Pandila who was re-elected to the Provincial Executive.

2. Samantha Becotte -STF President spoke and sincerely thanked us, plus shared the appreciation all teachers in Saskatchewan have for our ongoing support. You can continue sending your support for teachers and public education by clicking the Tell them Tuesday link on our web page.

3. Also good to note, Len and Eleanor Davidson attended (pictured above) the Wednesday evening Banquet as Honorary Life Members. Len was inducted in to this special group in 2002 and was the President of the Provincial STS 1996-1997!
