Isn’t it wonderful to feel the spring sunshine as we say good-bye to the last remnants of snow! I recently attended a horticultural show in Calgary and felt the renewal and the anticipation of digging in dirt and shopping for bedding plants. I’m even trying some new ideas this year! |

Thank you to Elaine P., Al T., Arlene W., Dianne N., Dalelene Y., Cherly and Willis W., who will be attending the provincial STS Annual General Meeting in mid-May. It is only through attendance that our chapter is able to voice opinions and concerns, and vote, on resolutions and elections.

May is our local chapter month of the final luncheon of the year as well as our own elections for our executive. 📨 Take Advantage of Your Blue Cross Cards!

Did you know…?
Your new STS Members Health Plan Blue Cross cards were mailed out in early March!
To take full advantage of the new members’ portal and features, you’ll need to re-register on the Blue Cross Saskatchewan website. You can also download the new Blue Cross SK Members app for easy access on your mobile device.
📝 Use the instructional letter that came with your new card to guide you through the setup process.
🚨 Important: Be sure to re-register your new card’s Policy # and Member ID with all your health service providers to avoid any disruption in service.

📝 ACER-CART Report – Helen Sukovieff (Our STS Executive Representative)

I’ll begin this report with an update on Canada’s national pharmacare initiative. On October 10, 2024, Bill C-64, also known as the Pharmacare Act, received royal assent and officially became federal law.
The first phase of this program provides coverage for a selection of birth control options and diabetes medications. However, only provinces and territories that have negotiated agreements with the federal government can access these benefits.
As of now, three provinces have signed bilateral agreements:
• Manitoba was the first, with coverage expected to begin in June 2025.
• British Columbia followed, with implementation set for March 2026.
• Prince Edward Island signed most recently, on March 7, with coverage starting in May 2025.

Where does Saskatchewan stand?
As of March 7, the Saskatchewan government issued a statement indicating that while it needs more information about the program, it is open to discussions with the federal government.
If you are interested in seeing Saskatchewan participate in this important initiative, consider contacting your MLA to ask when our province plans to sign on and provide residents with access to the national pharmacare program.
