As we move towards the beauty of autumn, there's a fresh sense of possibility in the air. Whether you enjoy the change of seasons, start new activities, plan a getaway, or dig out fall recipes, I think there is something everyone looks forward to at this time of year.

In this edition, we’ve got two events happening in the community for you to check out. Sept 24, STS Moose Jaw member Janie Fries, who serves on the Heritage Advisory Committee, will be presenting at the library. Later, on October 1, a Community Resource Fair will be held from 2-5pm at The Eaton Centre.

Moose Jaw Heritage Advisory Committee 2025 Project

In 2025 we will help commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the ending of WWII. The Moose Jaw Heritage Advisory Committee is embarking on a project focusing on wartime houses in our city and the people who occupied them over the decades. The starting point of this project will be to develop an inventory of the homes, followed by a collection of stories.

To help residents get started with their own research, Janie Fries, a member of the heritage advisory committee and STS member, will be presenting at the Public Library at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24, in the south room upstairs.

The evening will consist of a short information portion focusing on the why, what, where, and how of the history of the wartime home. Followed by a brief explanation of how to use the library archives, and finishing with a short instructional session on what to do with the information, once collected.

Community Resource Fair happening October 1

The Moose Jaw & District Senior Citizen Association and the Moose Jaw Chapter of the Saskatchewan Superannuated Teachers will be hosting a Community Resource Fair.

There will be no cost to both exhibitors and to the public who wish to attend. We invite all businesses and groups that offer services for Older Persons to partake in this Resource Fair.

Come check us out. There will be approximately 20 vendors who should be able to provide you with valuable information concerning services/activities that are available to the Older Persons in Moose Jaw and area.

This event will be held at The Eaton Centre – 510 Main St N, Moose Jaw and will run from 2:30 – 5:30 on Tuesday, October 1. The Comfort Singers will kick off the event with a performance.

There is no registration, no RSVP or sign up needed. Just come, and we’ll see you at the event.
