As winter arrived with a vengeance in January, with many members away in warmer climates for trips and extended stays, we were fortunate to see a good turnout for the January luncheon.  Our speaker was Dave Wentworth who enlightened us with stories of unique travel visits to locales elsewhere.  While owning a travel agency, Dave is also adept at designing websites, one of which is this one. 

With the sudden elevation of temperatures in late January, did any of you get the urge to check out garden seeds?  If you want to try excellent-tasting huge carrots, check out Kuroda, available at T&T seeds in Winnipeg.  I don’t know about you, but winter weather puts me in the soup-mode.  I’ve shared a recipe for carrot ginger soup on our website in the newly created Recipe Corner. It’s under the community tab, and it allows you to send us your recipes so let’s exchange some recipes.

During this difficult time for our former colleagues who are attempting to renew the collective bargaining process to achieve a provincial contract, let them know you are thinking of them.  We all know that classrooms are not what they were 20 years ago and we understand the issues that need to be resolved.

Das Schulhaus Regina German Language School is looking to hire a school coordinator for a paid position that is designed to be a modest time commitment with flexible hours. The coordinator will be paid a monthly stipend. While having knowledge of German would be a perk, it is not required for this role. Someone can be from Regina, Moose Jaw or surroundings as work is done from home.

This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to support foreign language education in Saskatchewan. This school serves students from pre-kindergarten to adult, from Regina and all points across the province. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please click here. STS Moose Jaw International Travel Club.. Wanna go places?

Thanks to everyone who heard me speak on January 17’s luncheon. I especially liked chatting with many of you during lunch. Lots of people expressed an interest in having an international group trip arranged. To me, that sounds fantastic, I would love to see a group of Superannuates explore the world together.

To get the ball rolling, I would like you to complete a short survey. I’d like to know more about what destinations you are interested in, and what type of trip you are looking for.
